Monthly Chartbook & Statistical Annex


EXPLANATORY NOTES

The Economic Review is published monthly. The document includes a commentary on the Fiji economy covering different sectors of the economy. The statistical sectionmainly covers aggregate monthly data on the financial sector – money and credit, consumer prices, foreign reserves, liquidity, interest rates, exchange rates and commodity prices. Updates to the figures are available on request. Exchange rate data is posted on the homepage of the Bank's website as well as available on request.

The Quarterly Review has commentaries on the international economy and Fiji. The press releases and policy announcements made during the quarter are also published in the Review. The Statistical Annex includes annual, quarterly and monthly data relating to financial conditions, output, government, prices, wages and employment, banking and external sectors. There are 48 tables in the Annex. A cash based version of the Balance of Payments, derived from exchange control records reported by commercial banks and authorized foreign exchange dealers is included. This data is available in advance of, and are a leading indicator of, official accruals based Balance of Payments Accounts for Fiji complied and published by the Fiji Islands Bureau of Statistics. Annual key disclosure statements of commercial banks and credit institutions are also included in the Annex. The Quarterly Review is a quarterly publication. The Statistical Annex is updated monthly and is available on request.

The Reserve Bank of Fiji Annual Report covers an economic overview of the international and domestic economy, developments in the Bank during the year and contains the Bank’s financial statements. The statistical component of the Report covers annual aggregate data on output, labour market, inflation, government finance, external trade, foreign exchange reserve, money and credit, interest rates and exchange rates. Revisions to the data are available in the Quarterly Review and upon request.

The Reserve Bank of Fiji Insurance Annual Report contains a brief overview of the international economy and Fiji as well as its associated insurance markets. The commentary also includes supervisory aspects of insurance, general and life insurance and insurance brokers. The Statistical Annex covers data on general and life insurance and insurance brokers on annual basis. The list of licensed insurance agents is also disclosed. This Report has the same coverage for economic data as the Annual Report. This Report also covers key insurance indicators on an annual basis.

The Monthly Chartbook & Statistical Annex is disseminated monthly on the Bank's website. It contains monthly updates to the tables in the statistical section of the Quarterly Review. There are also graphs of economic indicators.

The publications are available for a fee and may be obtained from the Reserve Bank of Fiji, Pratt Street, Suva, Fiji on the date of release.

The publications are posted on the Bank’s website www.reservebank.gov.fj as soon as practicable.

The advance calendar shows the expected dates for Bank publications. While publications are usually issued on the advertised dates, in some circumstances releases may be rescheduled.
